Bump&Run: 4/4/22

Golf season is upon us, and the Broken Tee Society is coalescing around our shared passion. Interactive Masters hangouts, in-person meetups, and more: it’s all happening in the BTS.

Bump&Run is the weekly recap of our members-only Discord server. Haven’t joined our server yet? Do so here: glfrsj.nl/BTSconnect

bts takes pine dunes

Take five Dallas guys, a Houston organizer, and a hidden gem of a golf course in rural Texas, and you’ve got a recipe for a top-notch BTS meetup.

Shout out to @DaleHosack for wrangling this crew. Everybody went home with a pocketful of BTS tees, and the following winners picked up some TGJ swag as well:

  • @MacDaddy – Low Net
  • @RyGuy – Closest to Pin
  • @MattWebb – Worst Lie of the Day

    One yard, Michael!

speaking of pines...

The Retreat @ Mid Pines is underway. Enjoy a selection of photos from the goings-on below, and follow along today and tomorrow in the Mid Pines channel.

VICE CAPTAIN MANEUVERS

As we tiptoe into golf season across most of the US and Europe, our Broken Tee Society Vice Captains huddled up last week to begin plotting their regional meetups. A few localized calls to action are below, and be on the lookout for events and meetups in your area!

And remember, if your region doesn’t have a VC, feel free to nominate someone (or yourself) via our Vice Captain nomination form.

  • Philly: @BirdiesNoBogeys with a call to arms for the City of Brotherly Love
  • Carolinas: @StephenJEdwards unites two golf Meccas.
  • Australia@AdamS checks in from Down Under
  • Bay Area@AndyTupman hints at a big year in the Bay

Find your tribe

BTS guest Wright Thompson wrote that “America is made up of tribes.” Well, think of the Broken Tee Society of a tribe made up of dozens of sub-tribes.

Don’t forget – in order to fully connect with your local BTS tribe, head to your region’s channel and add yourself as a member. It’s quick and easy, and will allow TGJ staff and our regional Vice Captains to notify you with region-specific events, giveaways and more.

Brian - m - k.u.

After a wild first two weekends of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, the Elite Eight brought an end to the chaos. The clock struck midnight for tournament darlings St. Peters, and we ended up with an all blue-blood Final Four.

What does that mean for the BTS Brackets group? It means that member @BrianMK will be able to offset some of those travel costs from his trips to TGJ events at Saticoy and Capital City CC! Brian picked half the Final Four and has Kansas winning tonight, allowing him to take down the other 71 pool entrants before the final even tipped off.
