Bump&Run: 12/5/22

New merch, a new golf brand, and an entirely new Bourbon Bash. While at the same time: old golf, an old book, and an old idea being repurposed. See what it all means below.

Eagle-eyed merch enthusiasts got a first peek at the newest line of TGJ gear to hit the shop. Head to the Merch Alpha channel to see the full lineup, which includes t-shirts, merchandise, and hoodies (like the Gorse Hoodie, below) all inspired by golf’s fundamental elements.

hitting the road

You’ve seen the idea in print, now get in on the action. The Broken Tee Society Traveling Headcover is live and in motion, heading to our Pasatiempo meetup before getting into the action at Lake Merced.

The headcover is an original piece by member Jeremy Koons, whose creations have become legendary in the community. With a journal and goodie bag alongside, the headcover seems poised for an all-time golf adventure.

new beginnings

Every week brings fresh starts in the server, and last week was no exception. We saw the inception of a Deals and Discounts channel sure to help with your holiday shopping, a detailed (and killer) proposal for the itinerary of the second annual BTS Bourbon Bash, and member Peter Tarrant even unveiled an entirely new golf brand that he’s been working on: Gutta Golf, a lifestyle brand inspired by the classic gutta-percha golf ball of yesteryear.

local motion

The BTS is your source for local golf knowledge. To wit:

The New England crew weighed in on the future of a beloved muni. The new Nashville chapter is already planning meetups. Michiganders ranked DeVries’s efforts in the area. Southwest Vice Captain Eric Moats compiled an editable breakdown of the area’s best courses. And our Scottish friends laid out a list of Scotland’s best youth-friendly clubs.

behind no. 22

Last week, Tom, Brendon, Travis and Casey went deep on the stories behind the features in TGJ No. 22, from the moonlit back roads of South Carolina to the gem-strewn heathland around London, and beyond. The team unearths the inspiration behind the jump feature, gets to the bottom of Brendon’s War on Drugs fandom, and offers a few glimpses at the future of TGJ.
