A Jersey Gem

New Jersey punches well beyond its weight in terms of elite golf per square mile. Pine Valley, Baltusrol and Somerset Hills hog the headlines, but fresh off a massive Gil Hanse restoration, Plainfield and its diabolical Donald Ross design is ready to join them. The club drips with history—Ross’s 1920 layout improved upon an 1890 design, and the handicap system we use today was developed there in 1904 by a PCC member. Its bunker-laden landing areas and vicious greens have tested the PGA Tour’s best in recent years, and this August, 108 Broken Tee Society Premium members will experience this awakened Jersey giant.
