The official list of true C.B. Macdonald/Seth Raynor courses can be debated, but there is no doubt they made magic whenever they collaborated. National Golf Links, Sleepy Hollow, The Creek Club and The Lido are all household names. Many believe Gibson Island belongs on that list.
Today, just nine holes of Macdonald and Raynor’s legendary Maryland routing remain. So just how good is it, and how did half of “the finest course in the United States” according to Macdonald disappear? Tom Coyne explored it in TGJ No. 16, and this October Broken Tee Society members have the rare privilege of finding for themselves.
