For 70 consecutive years, Firestone was a fixed point on the professional golf calendar. And the South Course always delivered. Jack won seven titles here. Tiger grabbed eight. This May, the BTS returns to Akron to take on Firestone’s South and its delightful North, with on-site lodging and extra golf available for those who want to stretch the trip and indulge even more in this storied golf haven.
The Firestone Experience
6:30-8:45 AM: Check In
Grab your gift bags, eat some breakfast, and get warmed up
7:20-9:30 AM: South Course tee times
18 holes of two-person better ball on the famed South Course
11:00 AM-3:00 PM: Lunch open

How to Register
- You must be a TGJ member to sign up for Firestone.
- TGJ members can place reservation requests from February 10 at 9 a.m. ET to February 16 at 9 a.m. ET.
- You may request up to four spots.
- Singles are encouraged to place reservation requests.
- Submitting more than one request will not increase your chances of being chosen. Duplicates will be removed.
- Entries must be paid within 24 hours of receiving the notification email to avoid forfeiting your position in the event.
Stay on Property
Upgrade the experience with an on-site stay in Firestone Country Club’s premium lodging. Stay-and-play guests will check in Friday, May 15 and check out Sunday, May 17, with bonus rounds on the North, South, or Fazio courses built into both arrival and departure days.

Event Registration & Waitlist Policy
TGJ member events have a limited number of spots. Here’s how registration works:
How to Request a Spot
• Reservation requests open at a set time and close at the deadline.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to select your party size and enter your details.
• You must be a member and logged in to your golfersjournal.com account to submit a request.
Selection & Payment
• The field is chosen by random drawing. Selected members will be notified via email or text.
• If selected, you have 24 hours to complete registration and payment.
• Failure to pay will result in automatic forfeiture of your spot.
Automatic Waitlist
• All unselected members are automatically added to the waitlist—no extra steps are needed.
• If a spot opens, a new member will be randomly selected from the waitlist.
• There is no set order to the waitlist.
• Members who miss the initial registration window are welcome to join the waitlist at anytime prior to the event..
How will I be notified?
Winners will be notified by email & SMS (if BTS text message alerts are enabled).

How many spots can I purchase?
You may purchase up to four spots.
Does my guest have to be a member?
Yes, all guests must be active TGJ members. The best way to bring a non-member guest is to gift them a TGJ membership.
What is recommended for caddie gratuity?
A Forecaddie is provide with your event fee. Gratuity for a forecaddie:
• 1 player: $100 per bag
• 2 players: $50 per bag
• 3 players: $40 per bag
• 4 players: $35 per bag
You may upgrade to a walking caddie for an additional $45. Gratuity for walking caddie is between $80-$100
Can I attend as a single?
Yes, almost 50% of event attendees are singles. Bring a friend or come make some new ones. Otherwise, you will be paired with another BTS member at random.
Can I request to be paired with another twosome?
If you have another person or team you’d like to be grouped with, please submit the request on the Guest Details form on the Players Room following your purchase.
Are there handicap / skill requirements?
Players of all skill levels are welcome. All we ask is that you:
- Have fun
- Respect the game and your fellow players
- Keep up with the group ahead
We will use a double-bogey max scoring format to keep pace moving and rounds enjoyable. We require a GHIN or other accredited handicap to participate in the NET division.
What’s the nearest airport to Firestone?
The closest airport is Akron-Canton Airport, located approximately 10 miles from the course.
For those considering alternate options, Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is about 40 miles away and may offer more flexible flight times or rental car availability.
- Rideshare services and rentals are available at both.
- If you’re looking to carpool with fellow BTS members, drop a note in the Clubhouse / App in the Firestone Player’s Room—we’re always happy to connect travelers.
What is the lodging information?
Lodging can be reserved in the Players Room once your spot is confirmed.
Lodging pricing will between 20% – 30% off of public pricing per night.
Can I book additional rounds?
Additional rounds can be booked for Friday and Sunday once spot is confirmed through the course.
Additional rounds are not be included with lodging fee.
What is the cancellation policy?
Pricing is per person. Refunds will be processed once the spot is filled, minus a 5% processing fee. Please email events@golfersjournal.com to request a refund.
What is not included?
Airfare and lodging are not included in the price. Caddie gratuity is at the member’s discretion.
