A Twilight 18 at Bandon Trails

When Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw were handed a piece of inland property at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, they went to work crafting a walk unlike any other on the Oregon coast. Opened in 2005, Bandon Trails moves seamlessly through a towering dune, open meadows and a cathedral-like forest—all without a single ocean view, and yet it remains a favorite among many who make the pilgrimage.

With the BTS Tour in town, TGJ Marketing Director Ian Foulke set out for a twilight loop of Bandon Trails in the latest edition of Playing 18. After a string of heartbreaking attempts at breaking 70, Foulke vowed to stay sober until he did—circling this round as the target. As he winds through the shifting landscapes of Coore & Crenshaw’s inland routing, enjoy his pursuit with no music, no commentary, and no distractions. Just a ballstriker, his caddie and the serenity of twilight golf.
