Strolling through a MacKenzie classic

Alister MacKenzie built cathedrals of the game at Augusta National, Cypress Point and Royal Melbourne—but he put down roots at Pasatiempo. Both MacKenzie and his longtime collaborator Marion Hollins kept homes alongside the fairways snaking through the Santa Cruz foothills, and after a 2024 greens restoration by Jim Urbina and superintendent Justin Mandon, Pasatiempo is playing just as the good doctor intended. When the Broken Tee Society rolled into town for the eighth annual Broken Tee 2-Man, we captured every hole in quiet detail, offering a glimpse of Pasatiempo exactly as MacKenzie envisioned.
