Registering for an Event

To register for an event, you must have an active membership and be logged in to your TGJ account. If you have any questions about the events, please contact events@golfersjournal.com or contact the team by phone M-F 9am-5pm PST: 949-492-2637

Cancellations

Event cancellation policies will vary and will be published on the specific Event’s page, as well as all other relevant details for that event. We value all our members and understand plans change.  In the event of a cancellation, you will be refunded the full amount less processing fees, if the host course / resort doesn’t have any special terms and conditions.

Types of Registration

Lottery: How it works

There will be a finite number of spots available for TGJ members in a lottery style registration. Members can place reservation requests in the allotted time given. During the registration request process, members can simply follow the instructions on screen by selecting the number of guests in their party and entering their information.

Members must be logged in to their account on golfersjournal.com in order to place a request.

The field will be decided via random drawing and those selected will be notified via email or text.

Selected members will have 24 hours from being notified to complete their registration by paying. Failing to pay or notify us will result in loss of spot. All members not selected will automatically be added to the waitlist. Once someone fails to pay, or declines the selection, we will continue to select members at random until the field is filled. There is no order of the waitlist.

First Come First Serve

Just as it sounds- We will announce a date and time that the registration for an event will open and at that time, it will be first come first serve for open spots. Once the spots have been sold out, we will open up a waitlist. Members must be logged in to their account on golfersjournal.com in order to register for the event or be placed on the waitlist.

Bringing a Guest

The option to bring a non-member guest is available for most, but not all of the events. Events that have Lottery registration are typically member-exclusive events meaning every player in the field will need to be a member in order to take part. The best way to solve this is to have your guest become a member. They won’t regret it.

Payment Options

Payment for events can be made via Apple Pay, PayPal and Credit Card. Payment plans are also available through Affirm

Waitlist

When an event is sold out, there will be an option to join the waitlist for that event, which is found on the Events Calendar page next to the specific event.

Tournament Formats

Better Ball:

  • Played in teams of 2 players
  • Play your own ball from tee to green until completion of hole.
  • The lowest score between teammates will be the counting score for the hole.

2 Person Shamble:

The premise of this format is each player hits their own tee shot and teams will choose the best tee shot position out of the two options. From there, both players play their own shots/ball until the completion of hole.

2-Person Team Stableford:

. 2-person team stableford involves scoring points based on the number of strokes taken at each hole.Unlike traditional scoring methods, where the aim is to have the lowest score, under Stableford rules, the objective is to have the highest score.

Play your own ball on every hole. Record your GROSS score only.

The points system is as follows:

  • Double Bogey or Worse = -1
  • Bogey = 0
  • Par = 1
  • Birdie = 3
  • Eagle = 5

Individual Stroke Play:

Each player needs to hole out on every hole. Each hole score for every hole in the round is added up to calculate your final score.
