The Bridge

The Bridge

From Harlem to the Hamptons with a golf foundation that’s changing the rules

If you read “Crossing Over” in TGJ No. 23, then you know Bob Rubin isn’t afraid to break the traditional private country club status quo. What you didn’t read is that Rubin sees golf as a template for life beyond the course. In 2016, he and his wife Stéphane Samuel founded The Bridge Golf Foundation—a year-round sports-based youth development program based in Harlem that prepares young men for life after high school.

During the school year, the foundation’s students report to The Bridge Golf Learning Center on 116th and Lennox in Harlem. They receive daily tutoring and college prep, train on state-of-the-art simulators and then hit local city courses to sharpen their games. In the summer, the kids live, work and practice at The Bridge—Rubin’s private country club on some of Long Island’s most coveted golfing land.
