Bump&Run: 3/14/22
Welcome to your weekly Bump&Run, a recap of what you may have missed during the past week on the Broken Tee Society Discord server. Not yet a member of the server? Head here to join: glfrsj.nl/BTSconnect
the pachyderm in the server
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve likely read, and reacted to, the announcement of TGJ’s initial offering in the NFT space. Dubbed Parside to the Moon, this digital art piece from Linksoul’s Geoff Cunningham comes with a host of IRL benefits, and is supported by some tasty new merch in the TGJ shop.
If you’ve got a spare morning, feel free to peruse last Wednesday’s lengthy (and sometimes heated) back-and-forth on this topic in the general chat channel. Supporters and skeptics chimed in in equal measure, and TGJ Publisher/crypto enthusiast Brendon Thomas pulled back the curtain on the ideation and creation of this unique offering.
Nearly a week on, only one thing is certain regarding the TGJ NFT:
on the ground in ponte vedra
Or rather, sunk into the ground. TGJ Editor Travis Hill and Associate Editor Casey Bannon went deep into the belly of the beast this weekend, reporting live from the grounds of TPC Sawgrass as they took in a wet and wild Players Championship.
Head to our dedicated Players Championship channel on the server to follow their exploits, which included a makeshift lakeside slip-n-slide and Casey getting entirely too close to a JT pine-straw recovery shot.
four grand and counting
Amid the hullaballoo last week, our humble little server achieved a pretty significant milestone. We have now officially welcomed 4,000 members into the Broken Tee Society!
At press time, our total server membership stands at 4,046 members. And while that number only represents a fraction of the full TGJ membership, it’s a solid start here in this brave new Discord world.
Here’s to welcoming even more members in the coming months, and finding many new playing partners and friends within the community going forward.
let the madness commence
It’s truly the most wonderful time of the year – introducing the 2021 BTS March Madness pool!
Hit the link below to join the pool and test your knowledge, skill, and flat-out luck against the rest of the BTS. We’re playing $10 per bracket, with a one-bracket maximum, because filling out multiple brackets is a lot like saying you broke par after playing three balls on each hole.
Venmo your $10 to @robbie-vogel, and please include your bracket name and BTS username. Then head to our March Madness thread within the golf degens channel to follow the action!

Stumped on who to pick in the Big Dance? We’ve got your back. Join us on Wednesday at 3:00 ET as we chat with BTS member, TGJ event attendee, and ACC Network basketball announcer Wes Durham live on the Main Stage.
We’ll dive into Wes’s golf obsession, touch on the life and career of his dad Woody (the “voice of the Tar Heels), and of course, provide an in-depth breakdown of this year’s tournament field. Don’t miss it!
STORYTELLING 101 W/ PROF. TOM COYNE
With college hoops squarely in the crosshairs, there’s no better time for the scribes among us to head back to school for a seminar in the art of the written word. Join us on the Main Stage on Tuesday for a writers’ workshop chaired by Mr. Tom Coyne, who recently left the safety of tenured professorship for the fickle world of the quarterly golf publication.
Tom’s collection of NYT bestsellers spans continents, genres, and writing styles, but all contain a consistent thread – the game of golf. Pull up a chair on Tuesday at 2:30 ET as Tom answers your questions and unveils a few secrets of the golf writing trade.

in-depth at inness
Our Inness event in June proved so popular that we opened a second event date, so it should come as no surprise that a number of BTS members have already made pilgrimages to this new King-Collins 9-hole wonderland.
BTS member @mav00 dropped a supremely thorough hole-by-hole breakdown of the course in the Inness event channel – here’s the link directly to his blog post with all the details.
If you’re in for either of our Inness dates, this post is must-read stuff.
