make your voice heard

It’s time for our annual TGJ Year in Review, and this year, we’re letting you take the reins. Head to our voting channel to choose from a wide selection of our favorite features, podcasts, and images from the past year. Your top choices will be highlighted alongside our Editors’ Picks in a year-end wrap up feature on the website, and will go a long way towards shaping our storytelling for 2022 and beyond.

“DIG IT OUT OF THE DIRT”

Kyle Porter from CBS Sports joined us on Thursday, and invoked one of the Lone Star State’s favorite sons during his wide-ranging chat. In addition to discussing his journey from publishing a college sports blog to becoming a golf media mainstay, Kyle offered an inside look at his recently published book Normal Sport, chronicling the 2021 PGA Tour season. Other highlights include: parenting wisdom, Sabbatini slander and a few questions from the audience.

Joining Kyle on our Main Stage this past week was Symetra Tour player Brynn Walker. The UNC Tar Heel and Philadelphia native spoke with Tom Coyne about her golf career, the blog she’s keeping to cover it and the razor-thin margins on display at Q-School.

And speaking of Mr. Coyne, he graciously recorded his A Course Called America chat last week at the Charleston Music Hall. Join him on a 90-minute odyssey chronicling our nation’s vast and varied golf scene.

a coast to coast collective

From the Capitol to California, last week was a great one for both planning and executing BTS meetups. Our DMV channel is hot on the trail of a Five Iron Golf simulator get-together, so be sure to join if you’re in the area. Meanwhile, our Michigan 2-Man planners are excited to announce that they have locked in the spectacular Stoatin Brae Golf Club for May 16th. Head to their sign-up sheet to join the fray.

Meanwhile, in warmer climes, golf actually happened! Sunday saw a strong crew of BTSers take on Soule Park in Ojai, CA – and they took the photos to prove it. And on Tuesday afternoon, mere hours after Christian Hafer touched down in Austin, he had already scared up a game at Butler Pitch & Putt, perhaps the Mecca for golf #vibes in the Western Hemisphere.

a comfortable yardage

When golf courses across Canada closed at the beginning of the pandemic, user @DbShep did what any reasonable person would – he built a full putting green in his backyard. A reminder of what a golf obsessive can accomplish with hard work, ample space, and some unexpected downtime.
