Welcome to the Bump & Run, a rundown of what you may have missed during the past week on the Broken Tee Society Discord server. Haven’t signed up for our server yet? Join the fun here: glfrsj.nl/BTSconnect
THE FIRST RULE OF BOOK CLUB...
… is that, actually, you do talk about book club. We’re excited to announce that the
#📚│books channel is now home to the BTS Book Club, which will meet monthly to dissect agreed-upon titles across all genres. First up: Golf’s Holy War by Brett Cyrgalis. See you on December 15th for our first official discussion.
If you’re into shooting lower scores, then you probably enjoyed last week’s game improvement-gasm in the server. First, retired US Army Black Hawk pilot Rob Bannon joined us on Swing Thoughts to discuss how he transitioned from the Special Forces to the golf course, where he now ranks as one of Florida’s fastest-rising swing coaches. With topics ranging from the comfort level of Saddam’s throne to the benefits of a shut club face, Rob’s chat is not to be missed.
Then, we welcomed the arrival of the #🕳│putting channel, a true black hole (pardon the pun) where members immediately began to extol the virtues of arm-locking, looking at the hole, and putter-design philosophy.
As we move closer to the holidays, we encourage you to keep tabs on the #🛍│tgj-merch-alpha channel, where we’ve been dropping restock alerts and offering first dibs on new TGJ merch, apparel, and accessories. We recently got a sneak peek at what @brie is cooking up, and expect it all to be snatched up faster than a dead-center Kevin Na putt.
the week ahead
11/16 @ 5 p.m. EST/2 p.m. PST – Member Spotlight: Peter Gannon
Peter Gannon is a music producer and sound designer behind some of television’s most powerful ads. From Coca Cola’s “The Catch” to Fed Ex’s “Moving Forward” to Nike’s “I Would Run To You,” Peter has been both playing and pulling the strings that inevitably make us feel something thanks to sound. Join your fellow TGJ Member in the hangout channel to hear how much thought, science and art is put into 60 seconds of advertising.
11/18 @ 2 p.m. EST/ 11.m. PST – Swing Thoughts: Christy Longfield
Christy Longfield is the Director of Instruction at Spanish Oaks Golf Club in Austin, Texas, and one of the most refreshing personalities in the golf world. We profiled her winding golf odyssey in an interview last year, and are stoked to have her join us for what’s sure to be a great hour of banter. Bring your swing videos and your putting demons; we’ll see you in there.
